Media Center

Welcome to Tropical’s Media Center

Our Media Center Program offers a variety of media services.  Our beautiful multi-purpose facility provides wonderful resources to provide access to information and ideas for all users(752 active patrons), including students, faculty, and our community.

  • A large collection of 13,335 print and non-print materials
  • Closed-circuit TV Broadcast Studio “WTES” for daily live morning broadcasts
  • 13 networked PC computers for our on-line book catalog (DESTINY), Accelerated Reader tests, technology training, and T-1 Internet access
  • A classroom setting that utilizes SMART Board technology  for research classes, faculty training, and parental workshops
  • A cozy seating area for book discussions

Our media center  is a delightful place to visit, check out a book, research, relax and enjoy oneself. 

Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Joerg, as well as the media assistant, Mrs. Giumarelli, will be happy help students and parents with any questions they may have.

Library Media Center Mission Statement

The mission of Tropical Elementary Library Media Center is to provide an excellent media program for students, faculty, the community, and to ensure that “No Child is Left Behind”.

The Library Media Center Program will:

  • Increase access by all community members by providing excellent resources, facilities, and services.
  • To purposefully impact the instructional program for students through curriculum integration, information literacy and staff development.
  • To stimulate student, parent, and school learning partnerships.
  • Celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of ALL people.
  • Emphasize and promote the love of reading.
  • To help development student rights and social responsibility.
  • Create and foster the development of life-long learning by promoting an inherent desire for knowledge and information

The program will support every student’s inherent right to access information and gain all knowledge that is available within a free society.

  • Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
  • Closed at times for faculty meetings, staff trainings, workshops, and special events.
